World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player can have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know how much it can be improved upon an update.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, and a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. item upgrading could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades the equipment they have it will be replaced by the new item. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrade r NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the more you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to go back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit attack damage, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to carry each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
