Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the component or material needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the item's name. For example, adding a Glyph would make a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to be given affixes that enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's kind. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will result in a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a building, engineers will utilize an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point, such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the level of filling.
Prior to item upgrading , some upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them easier for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more often than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a great or a negative thing depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the higher the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to create a more powerful character quicker, which enables you to advance in the game and attain higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can be of different sizes, have none of the elements, or contain a single element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.
Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions which can be useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to the level of the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
